IMMERSION TRAVEL adds much more to vacation time than a typical vacation. Why just take a trip when you can become part of the community you visit by working, volunteering or learning new skills. Wouldn’t you enjoy:

• Interacting with people of another culture and background right here in the United States?
• Volunteering your services to help others and at the same time help yourself?
• Learning new skills from the people in the community devoted to teaching and knowledgeable about their surroundings?

The phrases “Immersion Travel” or “Cultural Immersion Travel” are most commonly applied to programs in foreign countries where visitors are immersed in different cultures. But you don’t have to travel abroad for an IMMERSION TRAVEL adventure.

People, lifestyles, habits, activities, preferences, history, geography, traditions, accents, games, fashion, businesses and foods differ greatly among many parts of the northern, southern, eastern and western United States. Expand your horizons right here in the USA. Immersiontraveler.com will help you plan trips that include interaction with the people and places that make this country great.

Volunteer

Campground hosts are needed in State Parks around the country to welcome campers, educate them about the park facilities and regulations, answer questions and assist visitors in planning their activities. The season depends upon the location, often from mid May through mid September. Hosts are asked to volunteer 30 to 40 hours weekly for a few weeks or the season. Google “state park campground hosts” and links are available to individual states like these for Texas, Oregon and California:

Cedar Hill State Park
Oregon State Parks
California State Parks

Try Out A Job

Seasonal tourism locations need people to work all kinds of jobs which often do not require previous experience. It’s a great opportunity to live in a new place with the income paying for the extended vacation. Ski Taos hires lift operators, shuttle drivers and helpers in all the hotel services. Taos Ski Valley, Inc, Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, 866.968.7386, tsv@skitaos.org.

I found loads of great seasonal jobs on coolworks.com and applied for and accepted a summer position as the breakfast/lunch cook at Stehekin Valley Ranch in Stehekin, WA, a wilderness recreation area accessible only by air, foot or water. What an adventure!
